Encrypted mode uses AES-256-GCM encryption — your bookmarks are encrypted in your browser before syncing. We cannot decrypt them. Full Access mode stores bookmarks in plaintext on the server, enabling dashboard search, AI organization, and folder management. New accounts start in Full Access.
Yes, in Settings. Switching from Full Access to Encrypted deletes the bookmarks, folders and tags stored on our server, after asking you to confirm. The extension then syncs your browser's bookmarks as an encrypted vault once you give it a passphrase. Switching from Encrypted to Full Access makes the extension upload your browser's bookmarks in readable form at its next sync.
In Full Access mode, tab sync includes your Chrome/Edge tab groups (title, color, collapsed state). When you open another device's tabs from the extension popup, you can open them in their groups.

No. In Encrypted mode your bookmarks are stored as ciphertext, and we do not have your passphrase. If you lose your passphrase, your encrypted vault cannot be recovered. We recommend keeping a backup — the extension creates an HTML backup before your first sync.
